Hi Roelien, You changed my life with consolidations! I'm not sure if you remember me, since you taught so many students, but I could never forget you. I just wanted to say thank you. When I was at Edge Business School, I really struggled with consolidations and failed the subject more than twice. You were the lecturer who helped me understand and master it. Today, I have my own company, Enable CFO. I have implemented ERP systems for over 100 entities with billions in turnover, working across multi-entity and multi-currency environments to help companies automate parts of their consolidations. It's funny how the subject I struggled with the most became such a big part of my career. You played a significant role in that, and I wanted you to know how grateful I am. You are a rockstar! Never change. Thank you for everything!

You may not remember or even noticed me in your lecture rooms at FLB but I could never forget you. I was once a struggling part time student with my undergrad and battling with life issues at the same time. Questioning if what I started was the correct thing for me, your passion and dedication to our class allowed me to find the strength and courage to pass my undergrad. When I started my CIMA courses (after giving up on the dream of CA), I still remembered your loud and energetic voice to push on. When I decided to pursue my CA via the reciprocal agreement with SAICA, I heard your voice again. It all ended with CA(SA), I see that you are still very well respected and loved in the community. You have made a difference to me, thank you. Hope to see you again.

I am thrilled to share that I have passed my CTA exams—it is truly a miracle! Despite my year mark being in the 30% range, God showed up and turned my struggles into a testimony. I remember being advised to deregister due to my low formative assessment marks, but I did not give up. This journey was emotionally and mentally challenging, especially alongside the demands of work. My marks reflect that I did not give it my all throughout the year, but God's grace and mercy saw me through. I want to thank my family, friends, and amazing Milpark lecturers for their unwavering support. And to Roelien Roelofse on Accounting exam prep—honey, you will always be famous! Many thanks! To those who are on the same journey, do not give up! Remember that God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). I have been part of your programme for more than 5 years now, and since joining, I have been passing both IFRS and Group Accounting. I have never failed an accounting question. The way the programme is structured accommodates students (third year & PGDA) and candidates (IAC and APC) preparing over a short or long period. In short, the programme offers both exam revision and full-year courses. The content of the programme is very good, as it covers everything from basic to highly technical information. The way the content is presented is also helpful, as it includes notes, questions and solutions, mind-maps, and videos. You keep the content up to date with the latest syllabus changes. All of these are helpful when students or candidates use them properly and follow your suggested approach (using the timetable provided). You also encourage us to follow the same approach for other modules, even though there are no resources similar to what you provide for financial accounting. Regarding support, you are always available for students and candidates who have clarity-seeking questions, and you always encourage us to practice questions and stick to the suggested approach. I would choose your programme anytime. Thank you for the support you have shown me.

Couldn't have made it without you ma ❤️. Performance anxiety is such a liar, actually, because even though I wasn't 100% prepared, the things that were tested today I was actually so prepared for. So, I can just imagine not writing and regretting it after seeing the paper and seeing that I could've at least tried somewhere. But when I read the messages you were sending in the group? I just told myself, 'Go try.' I'm so, so glad I did. Couldn't have done it without you, ma. Love you to the moon and back.

In high school, I wrote an essay about the difficulties one encounters as they grow older. I wrote that life is riddled with technicolour blocks, but along the way, there are beautiful people who will help you every time you stumble. Roelien has been that person for me. Much like the tides of the sea, my journey with FAC has had its highs and lows, but Roe has been a constant anchor through it all. Each time I stumbled or fell short, she met me with such grace, patience and care. Financial Accounting has always been an intimidating beast. Everything is just too much! Too hard! I STRUGGLED, okay? 😭 But my Roe has a way of breaking down complex concepts into ideas you can easily understand. The programme has benefited me immensely. I never thought I’d see “71%” on my results. Coming from 20’s/40’s? I couldn’t believe my eyes, but the impossible became possible. Above addressing content gaps, the programme has taught me the importance of grit. Roe loves to say that FAC is not a feeling, she’s right. You’ll never feel completely ready, so you have to trust what you’ve learnt, back yourself and go do the work anyway. We work hard and fast over here but it’s fun! 💯 I’m truly grateful for this wonderful woman who has helped shape my journey. She’s heard my cries and called me out when I wasn’t doing enough to unlock my potential. If you’ve ever felt you needed someone in your corner to get you through FAC, it’s Roe. ❤️
